ABS 3D Printing Services

ABS offers an excellent balance of mechanical strength, impact resistance, and heat tolerance at a competitive price point. It’s tougher than PLA, more heat-resistant than many plastics, and accepts post-processing better than most alternatives, making it ideal for functional parts.

Standard ABS has moderate UV resistance and may degrade with prolonged sun exposure. For outdoor applications, we recommend UV-stabilized ABS grades or protective coatings. ABS excels in temperature-varying environments but should be protected from continuous direct sunlight.

ABS accepts a wide range of finishes including vapor smoothing for glass-like surfaces, painting, electroplating, screen printing, and pad printing. It can also be sanded, polished, or textured. This versatility makes ABS ideal for consumer products requiring aesthetic appeal.

Standard ABS is not food-safe. However, food-grade ABS formulations are available that meet FDA regulations for food contact. If your application requires food contact, please specify this requirement so we can use appropriate certified materials and manufacturing processes.

Our standard tolerance for ABS 3D printing is ±0.2mm. For critical dimensions, we can achieve tighter tolerances through precision machining post-processes. Larger parts may require slightly looser tolerances due to material properties, which we’ll discuss during design review.

ABS is more cost-effective and easier to process than polycarbonate, with better surface finish and paint adhesion. Polycarbonate offers higher impact strength and heat resistance. For most applications, ABS provides the best value, while polycarbonate is preferred for extreme conditions requiring maximum toughness.
