What tolerances can you achieve with CNC milling?

Our standard CNC milling tolerances are ±0.005 inches (±0.13mm). For critical applications, we can achieve tight tolerances as low as ±0.0005 inches (±0.0127mm) depending on part geometry, material, and feature requirements. We also maintain excellent angular tolerances of ±0.5 degrees for precision applications.

What materials can you machine with CNC milling?

We machine over 50+ materials including aluminum alloys, stainless steel, titanium, brass, copper, tool steels, and exotic alloys like Inconel and Kovar. For plastics, we work with ABS, Acetal/Delrin, PEEK, Nylon, Acrylic, Polycarbonate, and many others. If you don’t see your material listed, we can source custom materials to meet your specifications.

What’s the difference between 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling?

3-axis milling moves the cutting tool along X, Y, and Z linear axes, suitable for most standard machining operations. 4-axis adds a rotary axis (typically A-axis), allowing cylindrical machining and reducing setups. 5-axis milling provides complete access to the workpiece with simultaneous 5-axis movement, enabling complex geometries, undercuts, and compound angles in a single setup.

What file formats do you accept for CNC milling quotes?

We accept all standard CAD file formats including STEP, IGES, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, and PDF technical drawings. For the most accurate quotes, 3D CAD files (STEP or IGES) are preferred as they contain complete geometric information. We can also work from 2D drawings with detailed specifications.

Do you provide surface finishing services?

Yes, we offer various surface finishing options including as-machined (125 Ra), bead blasting, anodizing (Type II and Type III), powder coating, and custom finishes. Our standard as-machined finish provides excellent surface quality, and we can achieve mirror-like finishes for optical applications or decorative requirements.
