What makes Hastelloy C-276 different from other nickel alloys?

Hastelloy C-276 contains higher molybdenum (15-17%) and chromium (14.5-16.5%) content compared to other nickel alloys, providing superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking in chloride environments and mixed acids.

Can Hastelloy C-276 be welded?

Yes, Hastelloy C-276 has excellent weldability and can be welded using TIG, MIG, SMAW and other processes. The material does not require post-weld heat treatment and maintains its corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition.

What are the machining challenges with C-276?

Hastelloy C-276 work hardens rapidly and has low thermal conductivity, requiring sharp tools, slow cutting speeds, high feed rates and proper coolant. We use specialized carbide tooling and optimized parameters to achieve quality results.
